What is NFIP Compliance?

The National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP) is a program created by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA). The function of the NFIP is to offer primary flood insurance in neighborhoods that have a significant risk of flooding. In addition, the NFIP aims to help reduce the risk of flooding by adhering to basic floodplain management standards. Communities involved in NFIP are expected to adhere to floodplain management best practices. In return, they are provided with federal flood insurance.
